Hristina Ivanoska overall research interests are focused around the issues of suppression, control and construction of collective memory in regard to women’ resistance strategies and politics. She works with objects, texts, drawing, video, performance and installation, often interdisciplinary. Ivanoska critically investigates the experience of present-day social and political systems and their relationship to theory and history. She validates handcraft such as embroidery, weaving, pottery and quilting as mediums of political and social value and as a representation of individual struggle and limitations. Ivanoska has exhibited at MOMus Experimental Centre for the Arts, Thessalonica; 2nd Autostrada Biennial, Prizren; Kunsthalle Darmstadt; WUK – Werkstätten und Kulturhaus, Vienna; Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb; Museum of Sculpture – Królikarnia Palace, Warsaw; Research Pavilion, 57th Venice Biennale; Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje; National Gallery of Macedonia, Skopje; MUMOK, Vienna; Künstlerhaus, Graz; National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC), Bucharest; State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessalonica; Slovak National Gallery, Bratislava; nGbK, Berlin; Open Space – Zentrum für Kunstprojekte, Vienna; Association for Contemporary Art, Graz; Konsthall C, Stockholm; Magazin4 - Bregenzer Kunstverein; Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade and other venues. Since 2000 she is collaborating with Yane Calovski and their installation We Are All In This Alone was exhibited at the 56th Venice Biennial – Pavilion of the Republic of Macedonia. In 2004 they co-established “press to exit project space” in Skopje as an international platform for artistic research and curatorial practices. Currently Ivanoska is PhD-in-Practice candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
