Marjoca de Greef is an independent curator. Her practice is grounded in shared resources and collective forms of labour, making cross-domain collaboration her modus operandi. Working mostly outside institutions, she is familiar with unstable, informal, and unacknowledged forms of labour. She has grown attached to the precarious conditions of her practice, shaped by interdependence and vulnerability, as they allow for the unconditional openness she seeks. Since 2018, she has been collaborating with Anastasija Pandilovska to create new landscapes for non-competitive modes of art making, and artistic frameworks that resist market-driven expectations. As part of her artistic practice, Marjoca translates — employing the act of translation as a form of collaboration to curate subtleties, amplify a text’s potential, and substantiate linguistic diversity.
She has developed numerous multi-authored and investigative projects and exhibitions, such as 'The Daylight Show' (2014), 'Arrows Shot From the Bow' (2016), 'Huishoudschool' (2017), 'The spread of a crack is halted by a hole' (2020), 'In the pause of a gesture there might be an echo' (2020), ‘U zult begrijpen dat ...’ (2022). Currently, Marjoca is one of the curators of 'We don’t want to be stars, but part of constellations' (2023 - 2026).
Marjoca studied at AKI, Academy of Art & Design in Enschede (BA), and at Tilburg University (MA in Ritual Studies), and was a resident at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam.
